WATCH / PRIVACY & FEED ORDER

YOU’RE IN CONTROL.

Likes and sound last for this visit

Likes and your sound choice stay in this page’s memory while it is open. They reset when you reload or leave the page. Watch does not save them in cookies or browser storage, send them to Horizon, or add likes to a public count. Tap the heart again to remove a like. Videos start muted on a new visit.

How the feed is ordered

Horizon’s editors choose a fixed sequence of videos and occasional newsletter or map cards. Everyone sees the same sequence; opening a shared post link starts at that post. Likes, playback time and swipes do not change the order. Watch does not create a viewing profile or infer your political opinions.

Videos and sharing

Videos, preview images and fonts are served from the Horizon website. Your browser requests these files, and the website host receives ordinary request information such as your IP address, browser information and the files requested. Watch does not track video viewing or likes for advertising or feed personalisation. Optional alert-provider processing is described below.

Sharing opens your device’s share menu where available, or copies a link to the post. The link does not include your likes or sound choice. Newsletter links open the newsletter’s own website, where its privacy notice and controls apply.

Optional new-video alerts

Alerts tell you when Horizon publishes a new video. They are separate from newsletter signup and are not needed to watch. We rely on your consent to connect the alert service and send these notifications. Open Notify me, tick the unchecked agreement box and select Agree and connect. Then select Allow notifications and make your choice in your browser’s permission prompt. Selecting Not now before connecting makes no request to the alert provider.

OneSignal, Inc. delivers the alerts. We do not load its page software until you agree. When connected, OneSignal processes your IP address, browser and operating-system information, language/time zone, a device subscription identifier, connection/session and referring-page information, approximate location inferred from IP, and notification delivery or clicks. OneSignal uses technical information to operate, secure and improve its service and may use aggregated or de-identified service information for its own business purposes. The browser’s push service also handles delivery. OneSignal uses browser storage and a background service worker so subscribed devices can receive alerts while Watch is closed. No email address or phone number is required, and we do not send your likes, video playback or swipes to OneSignal.

After a subscription is confirmed, we attach the alert-notice version and opt-in time to its provider record to help show the choice made. This does not personalise the feed. Provider processing, international transfers and retention are explained in OneSignal’s privacy policy and Data Processing Addendum. Information may be processed outside your country, including outside the UK or EEA. The DPA includes EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum for relevant international transfers.

Use Turn off alerts in the same panel to withdraw, including after connecting but before granting browser permission. We stop delivery on this browser and revoke the connected software’s data consent; you can also block Horizon notifications in browser or device settings. Withdrawal does not undo earlier processing or automatically delete provider records or browser storage. Contact info@horizongeopolitics.com for access or deletion requests; limited records can remain where needed to honour opt-outs or meet legal obligations. We keep active subscription records for alert management, and limited consent or opt-out evidence afterwards where necessary. OneSignal states that its Free plan deletes dormant push subscriber records after 18 months without website/app use or processed data points; this is not a promise that every record or backup expires after that period. Its retention and backup rules also apply.

After a confirmed subscription, Watch saves its subscription reference, notice version and opt-in time in this browser to help identify your records in an access or deletion request. The reference expires after 180 days and is cleared the next time you open Watch; you can clear it sooner in the panel or your browser settings. Open Privacy request reference in the notification panel to see it, ask about the records or clear this local reference. Clearing it does not unsubscribe, erase OneSignal’s records or automatically reconnect the service. If browser storage is unavailable, the reference can only be shown for the current page.

On iPhone or iPad, add Watch to your Home Screen and open it from that icon before enabling alerts. This requires iOS/iPadOS 16.4 or later. Other supported browsers can opt in from the website. Each browser or installed web app has its own subscription and must be turned off separately.
